Delete a Primary Inventory Group Item
From time to time it may become necessary to discontinue selling a particular brand of products. If/when this occurs the removal is a three step process. As described in the overview, the Inventory Group Item is the most important and is at the top end of the hierarchy. As such, when an entire product line is discontinued (ie. all Military Surplus), the Primary Inventory Group item would be the last to be deleted.

Example 1

Within the Administration Menu, take option 3 within the "Primary Inventory Group", to display the delete screen (example 1). All Primary Inventory Group items contained in the database are displayed.

Example 2

The Primary Inventory Group item to be deleted is selected from a dropdown box. (example 2)

The application was designed to delete only the Primary Inventory Group item, not drill down deleting all Secondary Inventory Group and Inventory items that are related. This way if a Primary Inventory Group item was deleted by accident, it can be set up again with a minimum disruption of not having to re-add all the items below it.

For SEO purposes, the application was designed to physically create a web page for the Primary Inventory Group item when it is created. Upon deletion, the webmaster will receive an e-mail, informing him/her that this group item has been deleted from the database and that the physical web page can be removed from the web host servers.
